- Asher was not so sure about swimming in a pool where the shallow end goes into the deep end, but by the end of the summer, it didn't matter what depth pool he was in. He could swim it all.
- Asher is not our adventurous eater but he found a few more new things to eat (thank goodness) - rice with turkey and cheese and pork chop sandwiches.
- We read a lot books this summer. Asher claimed that he couldn't read, and then he'd go and read a sign.Or a short reader book.
Despite his "inability" to read, Asher made several books this summer, including "Strange Creatures" and "Scary Animals."
- My favorite quote on our trip to California came from Asher, "Daddy sounds like a chipmunk. Daddy's weird. Who wants to smell my feet?" Who's the weird one?
- Harper was enamored with bugs this summer. She kept an ant as a pet for a few days in her room.
- Harper also got more and more into drawing and coloring. She absolutely loves it. So much so that I had to take her "toolbox" of coloring things out of her room because she drew on a wall, a door, and her bed sheet.
- Adjusting to having Beckett has been hardest on Harper. With the changed summer schedule and the baby, she and I had less and less time together. Harper coped by trying to be a big sister alternating with playing a baby.
- Harper is smitten with princesses and getting married.
A couple of Asher and Harper's games this summer:
Asher claims at times that he really doesn't like Harper. And Harper at times attacks Asher with claws out. But the two of them have absolutely beautiful times of play. Today, for instance, they had two of our brooms and started having broom races. Asher then took up teaching Harper how to fly on a broom and coaching quidditch. They then built a place outside for refreshment (Asher's version) and to get married (Harper's version). Their version of getting married included Harper in a fancy dress with a crown, dancing, Asher dipping Harper, and kissing.
In another version of getting married, Harper's princesses were playing with Asher's Star Wars figures. One of the princesses said, "Lets go get married." Star Wars guy answered, "Ok, after I beat this guy up."
They also love building forts together, taping things on their bedroom wall together, and finding ways to integrate princesses with dinosaurs, Star Wars guys, GI Joe guys and Transformers.

I think Harper and Lulu would get along so, so well, from princesses and marriage to drawing EV.ER.Y.WHERE. Seriously. Rhys did ONE mural (granted it was in Sharpie), Quinn did a couple (in pencil) but Lulu has decorated countless walls, boots, bed sheets, doors, scriptures....the list goes on. The sad thing is she's now 6 and I still find areas decorated.
