Road Trip! Day One . . . Drivin' and Survivin'

So after getting over the nauseous cost of plan tickets to fly to Alabama for Thanksgiving, we decided to stomach driving. Which is just a little bit of 20 hours in the car craziness!

Today was day one of the trip, and all things considered, it has gone quite well. The important basics of good weather, little traffic, lots of available bathrooms and snack were all in place. Other fun highlights include:

The dog making it 30 minutes in the car before she vomited (made more fun because a. This trip would not be enough craziness without her and b. Asher is now old enough to make lots of comments about how bad it smells along with gagging noises).

Harper had a meltdown soon after the dog incident because she went to bed at 9:30 (of her own volition) and got up at 5:00. She had a one hour nap and the screaming and biting of Daddy's knuckle show she's just a wee bit tired and maybe a little stressed.

Asher has been an absolute trooper even though he didn't get to play enough and we didn't stop at enough Old McDonald's, as he calls it. Although when enough would be enough is hard to tell.

The kids, somewhat, weathered the car ride without a movie until after 7:00 p.m.! They were entertained by a few new toys, eating junk food, coloring (Asher drew the scariest alien ever), Leap Frog pads, Harper by her red purse filled with girly things, fighting over Tella, and, for Harper, holding Tella.

Asher has worn his pajamas all day, a treat he enjoyed. He told me "my brain is in pajama
town." Perfect for a car ride.

You are a brave woman. I hope you arrive in Alabama as a sane woman.
