March, April, May and June with Harper

I am getting so far behind in blogging about the kids that I don't even want to start. So I'll have to just dive in! March, April, May and June have apparently been busy for us (what other excuse do I have?) but also so fun and full of fun surprises with the kids.

Harper:

Continues to show an interest in families, which usually consist of a dad, mom, boy and baby. She groups lots of things into families - real and pretend animals, clips, food, and even - this is kind of gross - the contents in the toilet when she's done going potty.

Is fully potty trained (except for nights), which is great now but was a little difficult at first because she used to have zero capacity for holding it and had to use the potty what seemed like every 20 minutes.

Likes to put things away. Such a help to her momma!

Likes to wear a pony tail "like Mom" and looks adorable in pigtails.

Alternates between wanting to be a princess, baby and rockstar. Have to say that later is my f
avorite. She makes up kinds of fun songs about milk, babies, dresses, shoes, friends and loves to sing with her pretend microphone (which Tia so carefully chose because it doesn't make noise - just looks good). She's already performed after church on the stage.

Has wonderful
funny faces.

Will still pretty much only wear dresses and skirts (but not green skirts). One day she came home from daycare in the extra outfit we keep there - shorts and t-shirt - and she was happy as a clam. Until Dad came home, said, "Oh, Harper, I like your shorts." To which Harper replied by looking at her clothes and yelling, "I need a dress!" Lots of crying until the outfit was right. This morning, Harper wore a pair of shorts Dad got on her, and we both carefully avoided mentioning she was wearing shorts.

Loves to snuggle. So sweet.

Likes to engage me in play where she calls me "Sweetie" and I call her "Mommy" and sometimes "Grandma." It doesn't really matter what we do, but I have to use the right name for her.

Puts her baby doll in timeout in the bathroom for biting and hitting.

Is quite particular about her hair (not a huge surprise following the dress discussion) but she will yell and tear at her hair if a) her clip is in the wrong spot (needs to be on top - ON TOP!) or b) it's not lying flat along the side of her face ("I want it longer!" she'll scream and then smooth the sides down). We might be in
trouble.

Also likes to wear a skirt under her dress. This girl should have been born a few generations back - she would have loved petticoats.

Can't wait until her girl cousins are born and big so she can be the boss. The boys just don't listen as well.

Had her first ever haircut in June during our visit to California, following an incident in which she cut her own hair, not much but right off the front. She does love to cut things.

Loves to play in water as much as her brother. She is ready to be a fish in the swimming pool - she just needs to learn to swim first.

Loves Dora to the extent that I have actually hidden her Dora book so we could read something else (mean Mommy). Also loves Angelina Ballerina.

Loves, loves music - perhaps why she wants to be a rockstar. Asher is not such a big fan but with him gone for the last week visiting Nana, Harper and I have rocked at home and in the car, and she's listened to music to go to bed at night.

Is a night owl. Not good for bed time, when she's up until 9:30 but great for morning when Mom and Dad get to sleep in until 7:30 (love it!).

Would eat chocolate 24/7.

Is a tough little girl who loves adventures. She is learning to ride the pedalless bike (with accessories, of course - a purse and teddy bear on the handle bars) and likes to take it over bumps.

Loves purple and, slightly less, pink.

Doesn't mind taking her time which means when she does eat a meal, it can take her - literally - an hour, and washing her hands can take 5 minutes.

Can sing her ABC's, which she happily does almost every time she washes her hands.

Thinks it's hilarious when her feet get extra stinky from a pair of Merrell's she has.

Is starting to ride the no-peddle bike that has been Asher's. She's already starting to be able to balance and likes going down small bumps (that's our little adventurer).

Has had a growth spurt in the last year and is now in the 14th percentile for height and weight. Perhaps that or her heritage is why she likes to graze all-day-long on snacks. But forget about actually eating a meal.
